The Goods Line – Ultimo, Sydney

The Goods Line is a highly awarded pedestrian pathway, linking Central Station to Darling Harbour. The link takes pedestrians past Frank Gehry’s ‘Dr Chau Chak Wing Building through to the newly developed Darling Harbour Live, precinct.

Lighting, Art + Science were briefed with providing a comfortable ambient lighting solution an architectural platform that didn’t require numerous intrusive lighting poles introduced into the space. A series of light columns were installed using carefully selected & aimed LED flood lights to create a base illumination level. Under seat lighting providing an interesting contrast at lower levels, whilst up lighting of the trees frames the space to the east.

As part of the project we were asked to assist in the refurbishment the heritage listed Ultimo (Ultimo Road) Underbridge. Custom LED column lights were installed to highlight the support columns. A series of spot lights is used to graze the underside of the bridge.
