The Mint Courtyard, Sydney

Lighting , Art and Science was engaged by Sydney Living Museums to develop a lighting strategy to for ‘The Mint’ courtyard. The Mint is a function facility that frequently uses the courtyard. Prior to refurbishment works the courtyard would require venue uses to provide their own lighting solutions.

Linear inground uplights were used to wash the heritage sand stone walls of the surrounding buildings to create a soft ambient light. The center grass platform had the under edge lit to draw attention to the area and create floating appearance. Contrast was achieved by carefully highlighting the platform tree, also a Gobo spot was used to highlight the Juillet balcony.

Finally a dramatic and distinctive entry portal is achieved by a RGB linear wash of the northern sand stone wall.
