Constitution Avenue – ACT

Lighting, Art & Science were the lighting and electrical consultants for Constitution Avenue in Canberra, teaming up with the landscape architect to come up with a contemporary design strategy for the pathway lighting, street lighting and decorative feature lighting.

The lighting design aims to make the avenue visually interesting, inviting, comfortable to occupy and complement the aesthetics of the landscape architecture, while still achieving technical, safety and maintainability requirements of the precinct.

A unique multi-function light pole design was created, and together with a modern street luminaire, prototypes were tested on site to ensure that the lighting achieves good uniformity and control along the avenue. Care was taken to ensure minimal impact on the night sky.
